About Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.:
Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. proudly protects 3550 people living in an area of 14 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. A department with 25 active and 85 life members. 4 pumper/engines, 75ft ladder, rescue truck and 2 ALS ambulances. Two paid Parametics, Monday through Friday 8AM - 5PM. Have 150 wild ponies which help bring in funds to operate the department. We hold an annual carnival during the month of July which ends with our annual Pony Swim and Auction. The pony swim and auction is held on the last Wednesday and Thursday in July that is together. This event is one of the top 20 events in the Eastern United States, and top 100 events in the country.
