Chaumont Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 900 people living in an area of 45 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Established in 1910 and incorporated in 1914. We are located in the Village of Chaumont on Chaumont Bay. Which is the largest freshwater bay in the U.S. Our coverage area includes 21 miles of coastline. We serve the Village and surrounding area in the Town of Lyme. Our mutual aid area includes a population of 1700.
