About Calera Fire & Rescue:
Calera Fire & Rescue proudly protects 6000 people living in an area of 50 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. Calera is sometimes known as the crossroads of Alabama because of the intersection of Interstate 65 and Alabama Hwy 25 and the crossing of two major railroads the CSX and the Southern Railroads. The Shelby County Airport is also located within the corpotate limits of the city. We are the home of the Heart Of Dixe Railroad Museum and the home of NASCAR driver Hut Strickland. We are located aprox. 30 miles south of Birmingham with easy access to the interstate with three onramps located within the corprate limits.
