About Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department:
Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 6000 people living in an area of 130 square miles. We operate out of One stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Founded in 1903, the Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department serves the citizens of the Town of Blackstone and surrounding Nottoway County with Fire-Rescue, EMS and Haz-Mat emergency response. The department is composed of 45 volunteer members supported by a Ladies Auxiliary and Junior Fire Department programs. We operate a Regional Training Center center that includes a maze, class room, 2-story smoke house, and drafting site as well as a L.P. gas fire simulator. It shall be the mission of the Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department and all of its members to hold duty above self, to provide the Town of Blackstone and surrounding vicinity the highest quality emergency service. The department dedicates itself to the protection of lives and property and the preservation of the quality of life of this community throught effective firefighting, hazardous material incident management, emergency medical and rescue servies, fire and safety inspections.
