About Chenango Fire Company, Inc.:
Chenango Fire Company, Inc. proudly protects 14310 people living in an area of 38 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily commercial area. Our department is a private department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Chenango Fire Company is a 100% volunteer service that contracts with the towns of Chenango and Dickinson. CFC fire protection covers 38 sq. miles in the two towns. CFC Ambulance provides EMS cverage for the entire Town of Chenango, which includes the Chenango, Chenango Bridge, Castle Creek and Chenango Forks fire companies districts. Chenango is the second busiest volunteer fire company in Broome County.CFC borders the City of Binghamton's north side. Chenango is actually a new department formed in 1985, when the Nimmonsburg and Hinmans Corners fire companies consolidated. In 1986, the company also acuired the Chenango Vol. Emergency Squad. Since then Chenango Ambulance has upgraded to paramedic status and has become the largest 100% volunteer ambulance service in Broome County. CFC will be challenged in the years ahead, with major commercial developments coming to its district. CFC already covers, in its fire and ems districts, 5 major shopping centers, 2 interstate highways, Polar Cap Ice Arena, Broome County(B.C.) Jail, B.C. Public Safety Facility, and Broome Community College. Another shopping center is planned, along with a 16 cinema movie theatre, another hockey arena(to be located at BCC), and many other proposed projects. It should be interesting to see the future, but the Chenango Fire Company will be prepared and ready for whatever the future throws at us.
