About Lamar County Fire And Rescue:
LAMAR COUNTY FIRE AND RESCUE proudly protects 15912 people living in an area of 185.5 square miles. We operate out of 5 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. The Lamar County Fire and Rescue Department was started in 1980 with 5 volunteers. There were only 1 station and very little equipment. The department has shown an extraordinary growth with 5 stations, 50 volunteers and 3 career firefighters. On the drawing board are two additional stations, one new fire truck and a new headquaters/station/EMS to be completed within the next year. The department is extremely proud of our equipment, the majority of which has been purchased by our Lamar Co. Fire Association and donated to the county to be used in protecting the lives and property of each person in Lamar County. We now have 6 Engines, 4 Tankers, 1 Air & Light, 1 Rescue Truck, 3 Super Tankers, 1 Rehab Bus, 1 Command Vehicle
