About Aspen - Pitkin County Communications Center:
We operate out of 17 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. The Aspen - Pitkin County Communications Center is the primary dispatch center for all of the public safety agencies in Pitkin County. We serve as the primary public safety answering point (PSAP) for all 911 calls that originate anywhere in Pitkin County, in the western portion of Eagle County (the portion in the Roaring Fork Valley), and the Marble area in Gunnison County. APCCC receives the requests for service and coordinates the response needed. These requests range from the simple ones such as lost or found dogs, to the most life threatening such as plane crashes, serious crimes in progress, and medical/fire calls. The staff consists of 3 Communications Supervisors, and 11 Communications Specialists. The department is managed by the Communications Director, and supported by 2 Communications Technicians, 2 Reserve Communications Specialists and 1 Administrative Assistant. We are housed in a modern, state of the art communications facility, located in downtown Aspen.
