About Addyston Fire Department:
We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Village of Addyston is in Greater Cincinnati, Ohio. While being mostly residential, Addyston is home of the Bayer Corporation Polymers Division (formerly the Port Plastics facility of Monsanto). There are approximately 600 employees at the Bayer Corporation. Due to the extreme size of the plant and the chemicals at the plant, the Bayer Corporation has their own on-site fire brigade. Bayer has 8 Firefighters and 1 Officer/Supervisor on-duty at all times (these are plant employees that dual as Firefighters in the event of an emergency). Bayer's fire brigade has a Foam Truck (carries 1,000 gallons of foam), a Pumper, a Dry Chemical Truck, and an Ambulance. The Cincinnati Fire Division is also under contract to respond to fire and hazardous materials incidents at the Bayer Corporation. Cincinnati's 1st Alarm response for a hazardous materials incident at Bayer consists of 2 Engines, 2 Ladders, Squad 52 and M.A.C. 1 (Hazardous Materials Team), 1 Foam Unit, 1 Paramedic Ambulance, Rescue 2 (E.M.S. Supervisor), and 2 District Chiefs. At a working fire or chemical emergency at the Bayer Corporation, the Addyston Fire Department handles the E.M.S. section of the incident. Other than a response to the Bayer Corporation, the primary departments that Addyston utilizes for mutual-aid are the Cleves Fire Department and the Miami Township Fire Department.
